AffiliateFinders: A Founder’s Guide to Evaluating Partner Research
Evaluate AffiliateFinders for partner research with a practical test of relevance, data quality, and recruitment workflow. Includes an ownership disclosure.
Disclosure: Evan Weber, the founder of Experience Advertising, also founded AffiliateFinders. This is a founder's perspective on evaluating the product, not an independent review or a claim that it is the best tool for every affiliate program.
Affiliate recruiting starts with a business question: which publishers can reach customers who might want your products? A research tool is useful when it helps you investigate that question more effectively. The number of profiles in a database is not, by itself, a measure of the value you will get.
Define the research task first
Write down the product category, target customer, geography, and types of partners you want. Include examples of publishers that fit and examples that do not. That makes it easier to evaluate the output of any research platform, including AffiliateFinders.
Start with a small sample rather than a large export. Visit the publishers' current websites or channels and check whether the audience and content match your program. Look for signs of recent activity and a plausible way your offer would fit their work.
Check information before relying on it
Treat research results as a starting point for verification. Review the source, relevance, and freshness of the information. Confirm the appropriate partnership route before contacting a publisher, and distinguish a public contact form from a verified direct contact.
Do not assume that appearing in a tool means a publisher is available, interested, or ready to join your program. Recruitment still depends on your offer, timing, and the quality of the conversation.
Compare the workflow with your alternatives
Run the same brief through your existing network discovery process and any tool you are considering. Compare the number of genuinely relevant prospects, time required to verify them, and ease of organizing follow-up. Check current product capabilities and commercial terms directly before purchasing.
Avoid judging a tool by a single impressive result or a large claimed database. The better question is whether it consistently improves the work your team needs to do.
Measure partner activation
Track suitable prospects, responses, approved partners, first promotions, and resulting customer activity separately. A larger prospect list does not automatically create more revenue.
If research is only one part of the problem, affiliate program management can connect recruitment with partner support and performance review. Talk with Evan about your program to identify where that process needs attention.
