Affiliate Marketing Outlook for 2009

Friday, December 26th, 2008

It’s been a really awesome year in affiliate marketing on many levels. What I’m most excited about is the ever-growing number of webmasters, and regular people, getting involved in affiliate marketing on a world-wide basis. Adsense has really congested things for a good number of years, but affiliate programs seem to be turning the corner as the preferred advertisement of choice among webmaster and bloggers. But merchants must be vigilant to continue to improve the quality and efficacy of their websites so affiliates can prosper from the referred traffic. Good conversion optimization can be acheived by testing different landing pages through targeted PPC traffic. The best combination of graphics, logos, buttons and sales copy wins! Not that simple, but you get my drift.

There is so much opportunity to educate new affiliates, teaching them how to get online and start publishing content. Our affiliate site builder tool has enabled more hungry affiliates to get online with niche sites. This has been our ongoing attempt to break the barrier to publishing content online with affiliate advertisements pre-included. I’m particularly excited because our company is growing and taking on new clients. There is much that needs to be done, promotions to send out, resources to establish. I you know me you know that I don’t work regular business hours, in fact I deplore anyone that does! Might sounds a bit extreme, but there is an infinite amount of work that can be done and a finite amount of time to accomplish it. They has always been my attitude since I have been marketing online. I think it works quite well. We take the same approach to managing affiliate programs and also assisting our clients to do better as an ecommerce entity.

Affiliate marketing only looks to be growing in 2009. More merchants are launching affiliate programs with Commission Junction, Linkshare, Google, and Shareasale. My personal preference is for Commission Junction to launch an affiliate program is you want to get the most response. But launching an affiliate programs doesn’t mean certain success. Your affiliates have to managed properly and be provided tools, promotions, resources, and education to make them better affiliates or even producing affiliates at all! The beauty of affiliate marketing is in the masses if you can properly motivate the masses, which isn’t easy to do at all when there are 4000+ affiliate program to choose from. Getting the affiliate’s attention is important to remember. Take care of your affiliates and they will produce more for you…make sense? We always seek to grow our client’s affiliate programs and so far it has worked. We will be working harder than ever in 2009 to produce more revenue for our clients. Thank you and have a great New Year!

Why Your Affiliate Program Should be Exciting and Growing

Monday, November 24th, 2008

This applies to all affiliate merchants, but particularly those that are serious about increasing their affiliate channel enough to focus on improving website conversions. Most companies don’t spend nearly enough time working on improving website usability and conversion rates. They take it for granted that their website visitors will be impressed enough or desperate enough to just make a purchase. But the fact of the matter is that website visitors need to be impressed and moved to make a purchase by the way your site communicates its worthy of buying from. Where am I going with this you ask? Just impressing upon you the fact that capitalizing on the traffic your website is receiving is both beneficial to your affiliates as well as your own internal marketing campaigns. At the end of the day, it’s about how well the traffic your website is receiving is converting into buyers or leads. So assuming you have a good converting website you have given your company a very good chance to successfully grow a large and productive affiliate program.

Affiliate are very concerned with their tracking and also how well you convert as a merchant, and rightfully so. Affiliates seek to generate traffic to merchants with good conversion rates and good payouts. With good reason of course. Catering to your affiliates by constantly providing ideas, tools, and strategies with which to produce sales is called for in order enable as many affiliates possible to produce. Over the years affiliate marketing has grown tremendously and there are literally 10s of thousands of affiliates that you can get active into your affiliate program. You should listen to your affiliates intently when they give you feedback and you should let them know that you are there to answer any potential questions they may have.

Running sales promotions and contests are great ways to motivate more of your affiliates to activate. But this alone won’t sinch it for you, you have to really commit to working with your affiliates in order to get them to produce. Hours and hours on the phone with affiliates is a great strategy to get them liking your company and promoting your “offers.” Which is why more companies are turning to outsourced affiliate management companies like ours. All we do is work with affiliates and bring more affiliates into your program. Working with affiliates should be a major focus of your marketing department. Thinking of creative and effective ways to communicate with your affiliates is a great method of motivating more people to get active. Your affiliate program should be a source of excitement for your company as you get more people involved and more revenue is coming in. Rewarding affiliates for their efforts is a must! Let your affiliates know you care.

If you would like to discuss how to improve your affiliate channel and grow it exponentially, please contact us immediately. We would love to work with you! :)

Why Your Company Should Strive for Excellent Affiliate Management

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

Managing your affiliate program is much more than just sending out monthly newsletters and responding to affiliate inquiries. Your affiliate management should be actively working with your affiliate bases and making sure they are promoting your offer effectively. There are so many thousands of webmasters and search engine gurus you can have involved in your program, the key is to make sure they are all involved. Most affiliate programs actually have a very low affiliate activation rate. I’m referring to the actual number of affiliates that are producing sales or leads each month. Getting more good-producing affiliates involved is part of the equation, but the other, more difficult part is getting relative novice and intermediate level affiliate marketers producing sales for you. This can only be accomplished by working one-on-one with them. Reaching out and letting your affiliate base know you are willing and ready to help them is the call of the day! However, most internal affiliate managers and even outsourced affiliate managers don’t know enough about building out websites and blogs on the Internet or running pay-per-click campaigns to be of much real help to this demographic. Good affiliate managers should have a good understanding of HTML, SEO, PPC, Link Building and Content Creation. This is why our company is particularly effective at growing affiliate programs. Growing affiliate programs to their fullest potential should always be your objective, whether you use an outsourced affiliate management company like ours or handle it inhouse. Some of our affiliate management clients will assign an internal company person to work with us to help facilitate communication and deal with tracking issues that may arise. But regardless you should not settle for inadequate affiliate managers and you should expect your affiliate program to grow every month by producers and revenue. Of course there are issues such as seasonality that come into play, but if you are constantly reaching out and getting more partners/affiliates involved, your performance-based marketing initiatives should always be on the rise and peaking. If you are seeking to grow your performance-based channel, affiliate channels, or search engine traffic please contact us: 954-662-8010. you can ask for Evan, I’m happy to give you a free consultation and let you know why kind of potential you can expect via performance-based/affiliate marketing. Now get out there and get it going!! :)

Why your affiliate program should grow over time

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

You affiliate program should be something that grows in participants and revenue every year, and makes gains on a monthly basis by attaining a higher level of affiliate participation. Operating across several affiliate networks can be a good strategy to give affiliates more choice and opens your offer up to more potential affiliates. Operating an inhouse affiliate program can be a very effective strategy, which allows you to work even more closely with affiliates and pay them more money directly. You can grow an inhouse affiliate program by recruiting affiliates from the web (by contacting websites and posting on forums) and advertising in Google, Yahoo, and MSN under “affiliate marketing” keywords, driving the traffic directly to your affiliate signup page. Once you are signing up affiliates directly you can measure the ROI they generate against what it costs to acquire the affiliate via PPC. From my experience, it does work well. You only need 1 good affiliates sometimes to pay for the entire monthly advertising.
